Arranging realistic funding and grants
Businesses and (resident) initiatives are looking for money to (start up). Obtaining these funds requires a business plan, a plan of action and a sustainable budget. This does not seek profit maximization, but rather realistic plans. This includes impact goals.
Workshops
For years, Jørgen van Rijn has given workshops on finance and budgets. Clients include Google’s Social Tides program, LSA Residents and the Anton Jurgens Fund for the Ignite Awards. No dry accounting numeracy. But powerful insights about the core, usefulness and necessity of numbers and budgets.
About Jørgen
Jørgen is a business administration graduate, son of entrepreneur and self-employed since 1992. Initially as a financial advisor to corporations and high net worth individuals. After a few years, things started to fray. Just working with numbers and for money was not satisfying enough. In 2009, Jørgen started a sustainable impact initiative, Waste pays(www.afvalloont.nl). The branches of Afval loont paid for separated waste, which were staffed by people distanced from the labor market. Almost a decade of adventure as a sustainable entrepreneur in the waste world.
For Waste pays off, more than a million euros in funding has been raised, from equity, angel investor, bank, strategic investor, crowd funding and private equity. This was a logical consequence of the previous knowledge of financial matters. Apart from learning about the impact world, Jørgen learned to recognize the importance of marketing and communications when starting a new initiative. Waste pays has had a lot of attention from national media in newspapers and on TV. Finally, after ten years, the energy had run out and it was time for new adventures.
Jørgen is now mainly involved in advising and supporting (residents’) initiatives and giving workshops. Mainly in the area of obtaining financing or grants. Specialism is realistic budgeting and using this to raise money for these initiatives. Described in a short and forceful plan of action. In short, a sustainable budgeter.

Afval loont
In 2009 from two A4s in one year to six branches in Pijnacker-Nootdorp where separated waste (raw materials) was handed in, proprietary software had been developed and a “brand” had been built. Incredible kick start with front page Telegraaf, items in NOS news and RTL news. In the end, more than 15 mln. kilograms of raw materials turned in, paid out more than a million euros to participants and social initiatives, and employed more than 20 people distanced from the labor market.
